Classroom Utilization Explorer
See which rooms sit empty, which are overbooked, and which classes are in rooms far too big — the evidence space-planning decisions need.
How to use
- 1Set the teaching week. Pick the days and daily window you care about, and the utilization and seat-fill targets.
- 2Scan the overview. Spot the busiest rooms, the seat-fill distribution, and what needs attention.
- 3Drill in. Use the week × hour heatmap, the rooms table, and the daily schedule to find conflicts and underused space.
- 4Act on it. Find a room for a new class, import your own schedule CSV, or print a summary report.

Methodology
- Hours used counts only meeting minutes on the selected days and inside the daily window; overlapping meetings in the same room are counted once. Utilization is capped at 100%.
- Seat fill for a section is enrollment ÷ room capacity. A room’s seat fill is the average across its scheduled sections.
- “Far too big” counts sections whose seat fill is below the threshold.
- Double-booking is two or more sections in the same room whose days and times overlap.
