Session description

Research shows there’s a “J-curve” effect to AI adoption: faculty who adopt generative AI initially spend more time on daily tasks, but then, once they’ve achieved a certain threshold of familiarity, their workload becomes more efficient and freer to do higher-level thinking and interactions. The problem is that the initial adoption curve feels encumbered with needless jargon and layers of complexity.

This first Idaho AI Catalyst Webinar is designed for faculty and staff in higher education who consider themselves beginners to moderate users of generative AI. Join us if you’re curious how power users integrate AI into their faculty workflows and want to move beyond the initial learning curve with confidence. The session will demystify key AI terms and tools, provide simple, actionable steps for beginners, and reveal best practices and tips from advanced users who belong to Idaho higher-ed faculty and staff. We will also provide resources and tips for how to remain current while this technology changes quickly, tailored to Idaho faculty.

For faculty, admin, and staff who consider themselves experienced or advanced, you will learn how to quickly train others and gain tips for advancing knowledge.

Who this is for

Higher-ed faculty, staff, and admins who are new to generative AI or at an intermediate level. Experienced users are welcome.

What you’ll learn

  • AI literacy basics
  • How generative AI works
  • Prompt engineering fundamentals
  • Advanced techniques for power users
  • Common tools for faculty workflows
